சொந்தங்கள் ஒன்று கூடும் சித்திரைத் திருவிழாவில்
உன் வருகையை எதிர்பார்த்து திண்ணையில் நான் காத்திருக்க
வாசலில் நீ வந்தவுடன் என் சொந்தம் உன்னை கொண்டாட
ஒரு பார்வை மட்டும் பார்த்துச் செல்வாய்
அது போதுமடி சத்தியமாய்
நாகரீக உடையினில் நீ வந்திறங்கியபோதினிலும்
மறுநாளில் மாறிடுவாய் கிராமத்து தேவதையாய்
புத்தாடை அணிந்துவந்து பக்கத்தில் நீ நிற்கையிலே
காமாட்சி அம்மனை பார்த்தது போல் கண்கள் இரண்டும் சொக்கி நின்றேன்
கோவில் மணி ஓசையிலும்
கரகாட்ட கூத்து சத்தத்திலும்
உன்னுடைய சிரிப்பு மட்டும்
அழகாக கேக்குதடி
உரிமையோடு நானும்
ஆசையோடு நீயும்
பார்த்துப் பார்த்து பூத்திருபோம்
பேச எண்ணி காத்திருப்போம்
பொங்கச்சோறு சுவையை விட
பாட்டி தந்த பரிசை விட
நீ கொடுத்த ஒற்றை ருபாய்
என் பைக்குள்ளே பத்திரமாய்
மானும் மீனும் மயிலும் மலரும்
அழகாக தோன்றவில்லை அத்தைபெண்ணின் அருகினிலே
பெண்கள் பலகோடி பாரில் இருந்தாலும்
என் மாமன் மகளல்லவா அழகிய இளவரசி.

This poem is about the affection between a guy and his cousin (Uncle’s daughter) whom he has the right to marry. I will try to write this poem in english and post it if it comes well 🙂
